Real Madrid legend and former goalkeeper Iker Casillas took to social media on Tuesday to address speculation about José Mourinho potentially returning to the Santiago Bernabéu. Casillas refuted any personal issues with the Portuguese coach, yet made it clear he would prefer someone else to lead the team.

“I have no problem with Mourinho. He seems like a great professional. I don’t want him at Real Madrid. I believe other coaches would be more capable of managing the club of my life. Personal opinion. Nothing more,” the former goalkeeper posted on X.

In recent days, Mourinho’s name has gained traction in the corridors of Real Madrid, which is in crisis after finishing the season without silverware, compounded by public player disputes – most notably the altercation where Tchouaméni allegedly attacked Federico Valverde.

According to Spanish media, current coach Álvaro Arbeloa also lacks backing from the dressing room, leading president Florentino Pérez to consider replacing him with a manager who commands more authority over the squad.

Mourinho coached Casillas from 2010 to 2013. Together, they won the LaLiga title in the 2011-12 season, along with a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup.
