Referee Daniel Siebert talks to Atletico Madrid's Spanish defender Robin Le Normand

Daniel Siebert has been named as the referee for the 2026 UEFA Champions League final, which will see Paris Saint-Germain face Arsenal at the Puskas Arena on May 30.

The 42-year-old German official will be taking charge of his third Arsenal match in this season’s competition, having previously overseen their semi-final second-leg victory over Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium, as well as the quarter-final first-leg win against Sporting CP at Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Siebert will be joined by compatriots Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn as assistant referees. Bastian Dankert will serve as the video assistant referee (VAR), while Sandro Scharer of Switzerland has been appointed as the fourth official. Both Dankert and Scharer are among the 170 match officials selected for this summer’s World Cup.

This season, Siebert has officiated nine Champions League matches. His most recent encounter involving PSG was the league phase goalless draw against Athletic Club in December.

The May final marks the first UEFA club competition final that Siebert has ever taken charge of. His previous major tournament experience includes two games at Euro 2024, three matches at Euro 2020, and the 2022 World Cup, where he handled the heated group stage fixture between Ghana and Uruguay—notably sticking with his decision not to award a penalty to Uruguay after a VAR review. Siebert will not be on duty at the 2026 World Cup, with Felix Zwayer being the only German referee appointed to this summer’s tournament.

UEFA has also confirmed other final appointments: French official Francois Letexier, who refereed the Euro 2024 final, will take charge of the Europa League final between Aston Villa and Freiburg. Italian official Maurizio Mariani will referee the Conference League final between Crystal Palace and Rayo Vallecano—his first UEFA club competition final, having served as fourth official for last season’s Europa League final. Meanwhile, Swedish official Tess Olofsson will referee the women’s Champions League final between Lyon and Barcelona. Olofsson has officiated four matches in this season’s competition and was also at Euro 2025, where she refereed the dramatic quarter-final between France and Germany.
